Spy At ID Protest.
MI5 Whistle-blower David Shayler has been recruited by a new campaign group to speak against plans for a Home Office interview centre in west Norfolk.
Last week it was revealed that tens of thousands of people will have to travel to Kings Lynn to have their fingerprints scanned as a part of the government’s controversial ID scheme.
Lynn is one of 69 sites around the UK which will boast equipment for taking fingerprints and iris scanning technology for use on the ID cards.
A national campaign against the ID card scheme -NO2ID – has pledged to fight the scheme, Coordinator of the new Lynn branch, James from Heacham Said “ID cards and the massive database that lies behind them will be an expensive and dangerous fiasco, ID Cards haven’t prevented terrorism in Spain or Turkey.”
He added “The public would have to pay for an ID card to use free public services like the NHS. This ill-conceived scheme will hit low income families and pensioners the hardest of all.”
Mr Long as organised a public meeting at The Globe Hotel on King Street on Friday, March 16th .
Speakers due to attend include North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham, MEP Andrew Duff and Mr Shayler, a former counter terrorism officer who revealed secrets about the organisation.
